AI Visibility Tools Compared: Pricing and Engines Tracked in 2026

TL;DR

As of October 8, 2026, Otterly.AI is the cheapest way in to track Perplexity, AI Overviews and Copilot (€29 per month), Peec AI and Profound target teams tracking hundreds of prompts, and Semrush and Ahrefs add AI tracking to an SEO suite. Tonaily (from €49.99 per month excl. VAT) tracks fewer questions and fewer engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok), but bundles tracking and the writing of the content that moves the numbers into one subscription.

Which AI visibility tracking tool should you choose in 2026?

The right tool tracks the engines where your customers ask their questions, with enough questions for the number to mean something, at a price you can sustain. For Perplexity and AI Overviews on a small budget, Otterly.AI; for hundreds of prompts and several countries, Peec AI or Profound; if you already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs, their AI module; to track ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok and produce content in the same tool, Tonaily.

The starting point is usually the same. A business owner types “what POS system should a restaurant use?” into ChatGPT, sees three competitors and not their own brand, and looks for a tool to find out whether that was a fluke or the rule. They find a dozen offers, prices from €29 to “contact us,” and promises that are impossible to compare.

This comparison sticks to the vendors’ official pages, checked on October 8, 2026. Prices move often in this market: check them before you sign. Tonaily prices exclude VAT; other vendors’ prices are shown exactly as they display them.

What does an AI visibility tracking tool actually measure?

An AI visibility tracking tool regularly asks several assistants a fixed list of questions, then counts the answers that cite your brand and those that cite your competitors. Everything else (scores, trends, share of voice) comes from that count.

Three settings determine the quality of the measurement, whatever the tool:

  1. The questions. Questions that contain your name measure nothing: the assistant just repeats what the question says. The panel should look like what a buyer types. The method to build it is in the guide choosing which questions to track in AI assistants.
  2. The volume. Answers change from one call to the next. On 20 or 30 answers, a gap of a few mentions proves nothing. The more questions, engines and runs, the more stable the number.
  3. The math. Presence (the share of answers that cite you) and share of voice (your mentions out of the total for your brand plus competitors) don’t say the same thing. The guide calculating your AI share of voice breaks down both formulas.

One practical consequence: scores from two tools can’t be compared. Each one queries the engines its own way (through the API or the consumer interface, with or without web search, from a given country) and calculates with its own denominator. Compare a tool against itself over time.

Which engines does each tool actually track?

This is the criterion that separates the tools most: Otterly.AI, Peec AI and Ahrefs cover Perplexity (as an add-on at Peec AI), AI Overviews and Copilot; Semrush focuses on ChatGPT and Google’s AI surfaces; Tonaily tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok, but not Perplexity or AI Overviews.

A few details, again from the vendors’ own pages:

  • Peec AI has you pick 3 models per plan, from Starter to Advanced. Perplexity is one of the paid “Additional Models” (€25 per month for one extra model on Starter, annual price). Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral and Perplexity are listed in the Enterprise plan, which advertises up to 13 models.
  • Semrush documents different engines depending on the report: daily prompt tracking covers “Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT,” while the Brand Performance reports, updated weekly, add Perplexity and Gemini (Semrush One, AI Visibility Features).
  • Ahrefs Brand Radar covers AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, plus Claude for custom prompts; each prompt uses one check per engine per refresh, and Claude uses 8.
  • Profound limits the free trial to ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews, and advertises “up to 9 Answer Engines” on Enterprise, including Perplexity, Copilot, Claude and DeepSeek. Grok isn’t on the list.

Among the tools compared, Tonaily is the only one that includes Grok in a publicly priced plan, without going through an enterprise deal. That only matters if your customers use Grok.

How much does an AI visibility tracking tool cost?

Public entry prices range from €29 to €119 per month, but price alone is misleading: you have to weigh it against the number of answers analyzed each month. That is where the specialist tools beat Tonaily.

Peec AI gives the formula itself: answers per month = prompts × active models × frequency. Applied to the entry plans:

PlanPriceMathAnswers analyzed per month
Otterly.AI Lite€2915 prompts × 4 engines × 30 days1,800
Peec AI Starter€8550 × 3 × 30 (figure shown by Peec)4,500
Ahrefs Lite€1195 prompts × 1 engine × 30 days (150 checks)150
Tonaily Starter€49.99 excl. VAT10 questions × 2 engines × about 4 runsabout 85
Tonaily Pro€119.99 excl. VAT20 × 3 × about 10 automatic runsabout 600

On this criterion, Otterly.AI and Peec AI measure far more for the money. Tonaily isn’t trying to win that race: its subscription mainly pays for content production (6 to 24 articles per month depending on the plan, social posts, white papers), and tracking is there to check that the content moves the answers. On Pro, you can trigger a manual refresh every day, which can push the volume above this estimate.

SEO suites work differently. At Semrush, the AI Visibility Toolkit costs $99 per month with 25 prompts, and 50 extra prompts cost $60 per month; Semrush One plans, which combine SEO and AI, start at €190 per month (€158.40 billed annually) with 50 prompts tracked daily. At Ahrefs, Brand Radar is included from Lite with 5 prompts, and custom prompt packs are available (for example 80 prompts per day on one engine for €46.70 per month). The detailed comparison with Semrush is on the Tonaily vs Semrush page.

When is a competitor better than Tonaily?

A competitor is better as soon as you need Perplexity, AI Overviews, Copilot, several countries, daily tracking of hundreds of prompts or an enterprise plan. In those cases, Tonaily is not the right measurement tool.

  • You’re targeting Perplexity, AI Overviews or Copilot. Otterly.AI includes them from €29 per month; Ahrefs and Peec AI offer them too. Tonaily doesn’t track them.
  • You sell in several countries. Otterly.AI advertises support for 50+ countries from Lite. Peec AI doesn’t charge extra for countries (“any supported country or language with no additional cost,” its FAQ says), but its comparison table limits Starter to 1 country and Pro and Advanced to 3. Semrush prompt tracking covers 220+ countries and territories. Profound offers custom regions and languages on Enterprise.
  • You track hundreds of prompts every day. Peec AI (50 to 350 daily prompts), Otterly.AI (15 to 400) and Semrush (up to 200 on Advanced) are built for that. The Tonaily panel tops out at 20 questions on Pro.
  • You’re a large company. SSO, SOC 2, API, dedicated support: Profound lists “SSO/SAML + SOC 2 compliance”; Peec AI reserves SSO for Enterprise and opens the API from Pro; Otterly.AI reserves SSO for Enterprise and opens the API from Standard.
  • You already have Semrush or Ahrefs. Adding their AI module spares you another tool, and you read AI visibility next to your Google rankings.
  • You want a daily measurement. Every competing plan reviewed runs daily. Tonaily refreshes automatically every 7 days on Starter, 5 on Growth, 3 on Pro.

Who is Tonaily the right choice for?

Tonaily is the right choice for a small business, a freelancer or a small marketing team that wants to know whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok cite them, and above all to produce the content that changes the answer, in a single subscription from €49.99 per month excl. VAT.

Measuring is not enough: a dashboard that shows 0% presence every week doesn’t move anything. What moves assistant answers, based on what the engines document and what is observed, is clear pages that bots can access and that answer the panel’s questions; the GEO guide separates what is documented from what is myth.

Writing isn’t unique to Tonaily, but elsewhere you pay for it separately. Otterly.AI and Peec AI measure and recommend. Profound promotes an “AI Marketer” that researches and writes, with limited credits during the trial and a custom quote after that. Semrush and Ahrefs sell their writing tools as add-ons (Content Toolkit from $60 per month, Content Kit from €89 per month). Tonaily includes writing and publishing in the tracking subscription, from €49.99 per month excl. VAT.

Tonaily Tracking brings three things together in one place: AI visibility (mentions and share of voice against 1 to 3 tracked competitors depending on the plan), Search Console and backlinks. The content module writes articles from your keyword topics and sends them straight to WordPress or Diggama, as a draft or live: nothing goes out without your action, unless you turn on automatic publishing.

Two features round out tracking. Offer Showdown pits your offer against a tracked competitor’s, brands hidden, on three customer needs: a simulation in a controlled test, never a purchase probability. And Kira MCP, on Growth and Pro, opens your account to your own assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor…) with 16 tools, including adding a question to the panel. Competitors offer this too: MCP from Starter at Peec AI (€85 per month), from Standard at Otterly.AI (€189 per month), API and MCP from Lite at Ahrefs, MCP access in the Semrush One Starter plan.

What should you ask before you subscribe?

Before you pay, get the vendor to spell out which engines are included without add-ons, how many answers are analyzed per month and how the questions are asked. Those three points explain most of the gaps between tools.

Before you subscribe to an AI tracking tool0 / 9 done

That last point matters more than it looks. Changing tools, questions or engines breaks the series: the new curve can’t be compared to the old one.

Can you track your AI visibility for free?

Yes, by hand or with free trials, but no free option replaces regular tracking. The manual method is still the most reliable way to start: the same questions, put to the same assistants every week, and a spreadsheet that logs the brands cited.

On the tool side, Profound offers a 7-day trial (50 prompts per day, ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews). Otterly.AI and Peec AI advertise a free trial without stating its length on their pricing page. Semrush One has a 7-day trial, but the standalone AI Visibility Toolkit has none; the free Semrush account shows a domain’s mentions, citations and AI visibility score, not tracking of your own prompts. Ahrefs offers a free AI visibility snapshot; tracking your own prompts is included in its paid plans (5 prompts on Lite) or sold in packs.

To size up your industry before spending anything, Tonaily’s AI Visibility Index publishes, by industry, the brands that assistants cite most.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI visibility tracking tool?

There is no single winner: it depends on the engines you need to track, the number of questions and your budget. Otterly.AI covers four engines, including Perplexity and AI Overviews, from €29 per month; Peec AI and Profound target teams tracking hundreds of prompts; Tonaily fits small businesses that want to track ChatGPT, Gemini and Grok and produce content in the same tool.

How much does an AI visibility tracking tool cost?

As of October 8, 2026, public entry prices range from €29 per month (Otterly.AI Lite) to €85 (Peec AI Starter), $99 (Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit) or €119 (Ahrefs Lite, 5 tracked prompts). Profound shows no price for brands: a 7-day free trial, then a custom quote. Tonaily starts at €49.99 per month excl. VAT, content included.

Can you track your visibility in ChatGPT for free?

Yes, by hand: ask the same questions every week, without your brand name, and log the brands cited in a spreadsheet. It is reliable but slow. Tonaily's free test asks ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity one question with no account, and Profound offers a 7-day trial, but neither replaces regular tracking.

Does Tonaily track Perplexity and AI Overviews?

No. Tonaily's paid plans track ChatGPT and Gemini on Starter, plus Grok on Growth and Pro. Perplexity and Claude are only queried by the one-off free test. If Perplexity or AI Overviews matter most in your market, Otterly.AI, Peec AI, Semrush or Ahrefs cover them.

Why do two tools give different scores for the same brand?

Because they don't ask the same questions, to the same engines, in the same way: through the API or the user interface, with or without web search, from a given country. Assistant answers also vary from one call to the next. Compare a tool against itself over time, never two tools against each other.
